He also felt Coughlin didn’t treat him like a man.

“After my situation happened, I turned on the TV, and the first words out his mouth was ‘sad and disappointing.’ ” Burress said. “I’m like, forget support — how about some concern? I did just have a bullet in my leg.

“And then I sat in his office, and he pushed back his chair and goes, ‘I’m glad you didn’t kill anybody!’ Man, we’re paid too much to be treated like kids. He doesn’t realize that we’re grown men and actually have kids of our own."

I actually was really hoping Plax would be back with the Giants. He seemed to always be a safety net for Eli. He was an Eagles killer to boot. Shoot, I feel like the G-men haven’t beat ‘em since Burress left. (not a verified stat, relax)

But man, after all this continued non-sense from him I’m glad he’s not with the team.

How should the team have felt? Happy that you get 2 years off to go to jail?

Burress should be the one who is happy he didn’t kill anyone. What does it really matter to Coughlin outside of what would be natural human grief for a victim. The guy is totally out of touch with reality. Bordering on the Lebron zone.

How exactly should someone who treats a gun like a toy and shoots himself be treated? Like a responsible adult?

I am far from a Michael Vick apologist but at least he gets it. Showing remorse, regret and a desire to do better. Not going to mouth off to the first mag that gives him a podium.

No one is perfect, not me, you or professional athletes and I hope most of this was taken as “snippets” and “out of context”.

Steven A. Rags on Eli re: Plax

I’m not really sure where to even start with this.  A couple quick counter points and then I’m done with this post:

1) There is nothing to say that Plaxico will be any good and that he should be lobbied for.  The guy has been in jail.  

2) Big Ben and his motley crew went out to lunch with Burress and yukked it up.  A lot of good that did.  He’s not back in Black and Gold. 

3) Maybe Eli has some undelying issues about Burress hurting the teams chances at a repeat when he SHOT HIMSELF IN THE LEG because he holstered his gun in a sweatpants waist band.  It’s a much bigger deal if he comes out and causes a controversy saying, “Yes, I resent the guy.  I don’t like him at all an he’s an idiot.  I don’t want him on this team.”

4) Maybe he was leading by not fawning over a guy and begging him to come back.  Showing lack of faith in other teammates.  

Sometimes the media really just creates stories.  There is no reason Eli needed to go back slap Plax and “show him the love”.  But apparently there is enough there to get a radio segment, some callers and even some people to write about it.   

So congratulations.  You drove some page views.
